Sola Takes the Top Spot – Again!

Four of the country’s ten highest-ranked municipalities are from this county, with Sola once again taking first place. The annual NHO ranking measures long-term economic strength across all Norwegian municipalities—spotlighting regions with strong business growth, skilled workforces, and solid local finances.

For the third year in a row – and the eighth time in a decade – Sola has been named Norway’s number one municipality for business and growth. The award comes from “Kommune-NM,” (municipality championship), a nationwide ranking put together by the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO).

So what’s Kommune-NM?
Think of it as a “growth health check” for every municipality in Norway. NHO looks at 20 quantitative indicators – covering business activity, labour market, demographics, skills, and municipal finances. The result shows which places are best at creating jobs and staying financially healthy for the long run.

This year, Rogaland county did especially well, with Stavanger (5th), Klepp (8th) and Sandnes (10th) all in the top ten.

“It is important that we have municipalities that make things easy for businesses, so companies can keep creating jobs in the region. Kommune-NM aims to identify which municipalities have the greatest growth potential in the country. That is valuable insight for both local politicians and business leaders. Other municipalities can certainly be inspired by Sola,” says Svanhild Hestnes Sondresen from NHO Rogaland.

Mayor Janne Stangeland Rege is quick to share the credit:

“It makes me very proud. We will always work to achieve this. But the credit does not belong to us—it belongs to the business community in Sola,”

In the last decade, Sola has finished first almost every single year, missing the top spot only twice.

We’re proud to represent a region that continues to lead the way in business growth and economic resilience.
