As Europe has set the ambitious goal to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, the twin transition – the green and digital transition – has been pushed to the top of the EU’s political agenda.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stressed the need for Europe to lead the transition to a healthy planet and a new digital world. With cities being home to 75% of EU citizens, they play a central role in this effort.

This ERRIN Smart Cities Working Group meeting aims to highlight some upcoming funding opportunities for cities to realise the twin transition.

First, the European Commission will present two calls under the Mission on climate-neutral and smart cities from the recently published Horizon Europe Work Programme 2021-2022 on the Missions.

This will be followed by a presentation of the Digital Europe Programme calls on data spaces for smart cities.
