Sauda kommune

I den nordligste delen av Rogaland finner en Sauda kommune. Selve byen Sauda ligger lengst inn i Saudafjorden. Kommunens landskap er preget av fjord og fjell.

Sauda har lange industritradisjoner og et næringsliv dominert av industri og med hjørnestensbedriften Sauda smelteverk eid av Eramet. Videre er Sauda en av de 20 største kraftkommunene i Norge med hele 12 kraftverk (per 2016), noe som gjør energiindustrien til en viktig del i kommunen. Det skjer også store innovative nysatsinger i Sauda. Verdens største grønne ammoniakkfabrikk – Iverson eFuels AS – planlegges til kommunen av blant annet Hy2gen med antatt byggestart i 2026. Den produserte ammoniakken skal bidra til å avkarbonisere den globale shipping industrien. Det er en kraftkrevende produksjon, der Saudas grønne krafttilgang er en viktig ressurs.

Sauda kommune er et handels- og servicesenter for indre Ryfylke og er en viktig reiselivskommune. In the northernmost part of Rogaland you can find Sauda municipality. The city of Sauda lies furthest into the fjord Saudafjorden. The municipality’s landscape is characterized by fjords and mountains. 
 
Sauda has long industrial traditions and a business life dominated by industry with the cornerstone company Sauda smelteverk owned by Eramet. Furthermore, Sauda is one of the 20 largest power municipalities in Norway with a total of 12 power plants (as of 2016), which makes the energy industry an important part of the municipality.  

Major innovative initiatives are taking place in Sauda. The world’s largest green ammonia factory – Iverson eFuels AS – is planned by, among others, Hy2gen with construction expected to start in 2026 in Sauda. The produced ammonia will contribute to the  decarbonisation of the global shipping industry. It is a power-intensive production, where Sauda’s green power supply is an important resource. 

Sauda municipality is a trade and service center for inner Ryfylke, and tourism is important in the municipality. If you like winter sports, you’ll enjoy the information that Rogaland’s largest alpine center is located in Svanedalen above lake ‘Saudasjøen’ in the municipality. The municipality can also boast of great nature and wonderful hiking trails within its borders.
