Stavanger kommune

Stavanger er Norges fjerde største bykommune, og har i 50 år ledet an i utviklingen av Norge som energinasjon. Her finner man de store olje- og gasselskapene, i tillegg til over 400 service- og teknologiselskaper. Samtidig som de tradisjonelle olje- og gasselskapene trives i regionen, ser vi nå en parallell økning i selskaper som satser på fornybar energi. Dette er selskaper som har driven, teknologien og kunnskapen fra olje- og gassindustrien i ryggen.

Stavanger har også utmerket seg som en fremragende smart-by. Da Stavanger kommune ble en fyrtårnsby som en del av Triangulum EU-prosjektet i 2014, ga dette positive ringvirkninger for hele regionen, og førte til flere «Smart City»-prosjekter. I dag er Stavanger med i en rekke prosjekter som AI4Cities, Unalab and Airmour.

Stavanger er en av landets fremste landbrukskommuner, i tillegg til å være landets fjerde største på fiskeoppdrett. Dette er noe lokale restauranter nyter godt av ved å bruke de lokale råvarene, og som gjør at de høster gode anmeldelser fra både nasjonale matkritikere, så vel som fra Michelin-guiden.

Stavanger is Norway’s fourth largest city and has for 50 years led the way in the development of Norway as an “energy nation”. In Stavanger, you will find the major oil and gas companies, in addition to over 400 service and technology companies. While traditional oil and gas companies are thriving in the region, we now see companies and start-ups increasingly investing in renewable energy solutions. These companies have inherited the “drive”, technology and knowledge from the oil and gas industry, whilst adopting a forward-facing outlook.

Stavanger is also the host city for several business clusters within energy, aquaculture, health & welfare, transport infrastructure and smart cities. The city and region are known for a close collaboration between public sector, private sector and academia, in order to create innovation and competitive advantage.

Stavanger has also distinguished itself as an excellent smart city. When Stavanger municipality became a lighthouse city as part of the Triangulum EU project in 2014, it had positive ripple effects for the entire region and led to several “Smart City” projects. Today, Stavanger is participating in several projects like AI4Cities, Unalab and Airmour.

Further, Stavanger is one of the country’s largest agricultural municipalities. This is something that the local restaurants utilize, and which they receive excellent reviews from both national food critics and the Michelin guide.
