Gjesdal Municipality has embarked on an exciting new EU project aiming to shape the future of sustainable transport in rural areas. The project (Storcito) has 3 main objectives, where the topic Smart Fair Mobility for Every Village is one of them. It seeks to develop innovative, inclusive, and environmentally friendly transport solutions that meet the needs of small communities.
Funded by the EU, Storcito brings together partners from several European countries to test and implement flexible mobility services. In Gjesdal, the project will explore how smart technologies and new transport models can improve accessibility for all residents, particularly in the town of Ålgård.
The local initiative invites citizens to share their needs and ideas for better public transport, ensuring the solutions are tailored to real-life challenges. By involving the community from the very beginning, Gjesdal aims to create services that are not only efficient and sustainable but also fair and inclusive.
The project will run for the coming years, with pilot solutions expected to be tested in Gjesdal and across Europe.
