Stavanger 2025: Celebrating 900 Years!

In 2025, Stavanger will celebrate a historic milestone – the city’s 900th anniversary! Throughout the year, residents, and visitors are invited to join a festive journey, celebrating the region's rich history, vibrant and diverse community, and bright future.

The Stavanger 2025 program will feature a wide range of events, from cultural shows and historical exhibitions to innovative projects and activities highlighting the city’s role as a hub for sustainability, creativity, and collaboration. This unique anniversary is not only a celebration of the past but, also an opportunity to further explore what Stavanger can become in the future, as it continues to grow and thrive. The different jubilee events are related to one or more of the three key themes:

Past: highlighting history and cultural heritage, with the Cathedral as a focal point.

Present: exploring our relationship with nature and the world today, with Pedersgata as the main focus.

Future: looking towards the future and considering how we will meet the challenges ahead, with Ullandhaug as the central theme.

A Year of Collaboration

The city of Stavanger is the lead organizer, but they are not alone with the task. The Church of Norway and the University of Stavanger are important co-organizers.
Additional partners are Museum Stavanger, Stavanger City Centre, Stavanger Trekking Association, and Sølvberget. In addition, local businesses and sports associations all contribute to making 2025 a unique year in Stavanger. You can find all the associated partners here.
