We are excited to welcome two new members to the Stavanger Region European Office: Grønn By and Suldal Municipality. Their expertise and qualities will help us work together for a greener and more innovative future, both in our region and across Europe.

Grønn By – Creating the Green Cities We Need

Grønn By is tackling important areas like eco-friendly building, green transportation, renewable energy, social sustainability, and circular economies by bringing together businesses, local governments, and academia. Their approach is based on collaboration, and through this, they create solutions that help build greener, smarter cities.

With Grønn By’s experience, we will have more input on important European conversations about how cities can be greener and more sustainable, and how to create circular economies that work for everyone.

Suldal Municipality – A Hidden Gem Leading in Sustainability

Suldal is the biggest municipality in Rogaland. Here, between the highest peaks of Rogaland and its deep fjords, you’ll find a fascinating blend of nature and innovation. The area is home to Norway’s largest dam facility, an impressive example of hydropower architecture. Suldal is one of the major clean power municipalities in Norway and is home to several power projects and stations, which help to power the country with renewable clean energy, therefore Suldal is one of Norway’s most important energy sources.

In Sand, you can also visit the country’s first salmon studio, offering a unique insight into the migration of salmon upstream. Suldal is also actively making big steps toward sustainable tourism. In 2020, it earned the Sustainable Destination Label from Innovation Norway, recognizing its efforts in promoting responsible tourism and developing its community in a way that respects nature.

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future
With Grønn By and Suldal Municipality on board, their expertise and commitment to green cities and renewable energy will not only benefit our region but also contribute to shaping a more sustainable Europe. At the same time, collaboration with European partners can provide new insights and solutions to the challenges our region faces.
